Ibn el Arabi (1076-1148), a Muslim religious scholar from Seville, recorded his impressions of Eretz Israel in numerous essays, a selection of which is presented in this volume. His writings comprise an original and fascinating record of the cultural and social state of the country in the last decade of Muslim rule. In his introduction, the editor creates for the reader a portrait of the author as a medieval scholar.
