The figure of Moses, his leadership and his history, are recorded in the Torah, and he emerges as an impressive personality: lawmaker, prophet, leader and man. Ahad Ha'am remarked that the figure of Moses is a subject for the learned, but not for them only, as ''the spark of Moses lights up every generation.'' His personality, his prophesy and his philosophy stand at the center of the essence of Jewish existence at all levels. It is therefore no wonder that his image has attracted philosophers, writers, poets, artists, sculptors and even dreamers – each from his own perspective. Religions other than Judaism have found relevance in his figure. The titles used to describe him are an expression of his versatility This volume, based on a conference on Jewish philosophy that took place at Bar-Ilan University, presents a variety of studies and approaches, all from a philosophical point of view. The book is divided into three sections, in chronological order: Bible and Midrash, The Middle Ages, Islam and Christianity, Kabbalah and Hasidism, The Modern Period. This book follows in the footsteps of The Faith of Abraham.
