Jewish Solidarity Tested
Religious Zionism in Eretz-Israel Confronts the Holocaust; 1939-1945
Hava Eshkoli Wagman

This book, which contains 322 annotated documents that span the years 1939-1945, provides a detailed picture of how religious Zionism in Israel coped with two imperatives: redemption of the Land of Israel, and saving Jews under Nazi occupation. On the one hand, religious Zionism was working hard for the creation of a Jewish state. On the other hand, they realized that solidarity with the persecuted Jews in the Diaspora in the face of the Holocaust required their help. The introductory essays by Prof. Dan Michman, Prof. Dov Schwartz and Dr. Hava Eshkoli Wagman present both historical and theological perspectives that add to the public and academic discourse on this subject.
