This book follows the original diary of Rabbi Moshe Alpert, Muchtar of the Beit Yisrael neighborhood, in the British Mandate period. It starts during the 1936-1939 Arab riots and ends in the first years of the State of Israel. Along with the diary, many occurrences at the national, local and personal levels as felt by Alpert, his family and the Jewish inhabitants of north Jerusalem are described.
