Miracle stories play a central role in many religious traditions. What is a miracle? What is the relationship between miracles and God? Is the miracle indicative of the existence of God, or are 'miracles' made only to those who presuppose the existence of God? Are miracles objective phenomena in the world, or internal, epistemic, occurring only in a person's subjective consciousness by providing personal interpretation of external phenomena? These and other questions have been discussed on the philosophic and theological levels, and have fascinated the human consciousness for thousands of years. This book systematically explores the issue of miracle from the perspective of the philosophy of Halakha. Diverse Halakhic issues that deal explicitly or implicitly with the subject of nature and miracle are illuminated from a philosophical perspective, by discussing the practical-normative implications derived from a worldview that assumes the existence of miracles. The unique contribution of the book and its importance stems from the renewed analysis of the issue of nature and miracle and from the methodology that lies at its core.
