Hebrew education in the colonies during the Ottoman period is presented as an important tier in the process of nation building in Israeli historiography.
The authors of the book seek to argue that the building blocks of Zionist education, such as the "tiyull", the agricultural garden, the songs in kindergartens and more, are the product of an intertwining between European educational ideas and the attempts to design local Hebrew culture. The processes of integration are examined through the approach of transnationalism. Observing through the lens of intertwining history, which is a subcategory of the same approach, shows, for example, that the norm of community public education, which was prevalent in Europe in the last third of the nineteenth century, was transferred to Ottoman Israel by Baron Rothschild and organization officials These bodies, which were not partners in the vision of Zionism (and the Zionist movement), funded the Hebrew educational frameworks that sought to educate and assimilate a new local consciousness.
The primordial conditions that prevailed in the Hebrew education system in Eretz Israel created a reality of a kind of small socio-cultural laboratory that allows to examine almost in detail how the professional biography and various habitats of teachers influenced their acquisition of knowledge and perceptions, and allows it to examine adoption. Processing and adaptation of an educational idea to the reality of Ottoman Israel in the colony. These processes were reflected, among other things, in the medicalization of education, in the creation of modern teacher and kindergarten teacher training, in the design of advanced (progressive) early childhood education.
